Integrating Upscaled Male Circumcision With Existing HIV Prevention Programs in Zimbabwe

In line with MDG 6, Zimbabwe has set a goal of circumcising 1.2 million men by 2015 to reduce HIV infection. A decentralized circumcision scheme offered by the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare in conjunction with Population Services International (PSI), an NGO, and other development partners. Over 40 000 men have undergone circumcision as HIV testing and counseling since 2009.

Provision of water and sewerage reticulation services by Harare City Council, Zimbabwe

Harare City had totally failed to provide water to its residents. The water shortage had resulted in people digging shallow wells, resulting in cholera infections. Government allocated a grant of USD17.1 million to improve service delivery in 2009



• Water production increased from about 330ML/day to the current 600ML/day

• Water losses reduced by about 50ML/day

• Water supply coverage for Greater Harare increased from 50% to about 82%
